1: Governance and Management
Tung Sing Board Member
3 hours meeting every 2 months
You can make a significant contribution to Tung Sing by becoming a Board Member. The Board of Management oversees the running of the Association, and has designated two places for residents. Residents on the Board are normally already involved in a resident involvement opportunity listed under section 2 “Voices and Skills”
Arena Resident Board Member
3 hours meeting every 2 months
The Arena Resident Board oversees services to residents provided by all subsidiaries in the Arena Housing Group. As a Board Member, you will make a significant contribution to the services that residents receive across the whole Group. All Board Members are residents, and each subsidiary is represented by at least one resident. Residents on the Board are normally already involved in a resident involvement opportunity listed under section 2 “Voices and Skills”. To read more about the Residents Board, please click here.
Shareholder
3 hours annually
For just £1 you can become a shareholder of Tung Sing. You will have the right to express your opinion on shareholder issues – like financial matters and changes to the Association’s rules. You will be invited to attend and vote at our Annual General Meeting. You will also receive a copy of the Association’s Annual Report, which reviews our activities and plans for the future
2. Voices and Skills
City Wide Focus Group
2 hours meeting every 2 months
Have your say on strategic and operational issues. This group acts as a ‘sounding board’ for new proposals, and also approves new policies and practices which affect residents. Residents on this group have access to training to develop their skills, and help them on their way to becoming a future Board Member
Supported Housing Group
2 hours meeting every 3 months
As a member of this group, you will represent sheltered scheme residents and floating support service users. You will have the opportunity to give your views on Tung Sing’s management and the services we provide, and help us tailor and improve these services. You will also help to organise social and community events, and activities and training, to improve community spirit and encourage others to get involved
Youth Forum
2 hours meeting every 3 months
As a member of the Youth Forum, you can have your say on local issues and what you think will benefit your community. As well as making changes happen, you will learn skills such as how to chair a meeting and take minutes. Even if you are not sure, just give it a try – we will provide you all the training you need, and its good for your CV too, you know! You can set your own agenda, decide when and where to meet – have it your way! The forum is open to young people aged between 16 and 25
Scheme Representative
½ an hour every month
Be the eyes and ears in the scheme or the area where you live and tell us as soon as things are not right. We are only asking for a few minutes of your time, which may be monthly or whenever it is convenient for you. This may be completing a survey form, answering a telephone survey, or monitor contractors’ performance by filling in a monitoring sheet
Resident Tester
1 hour every 2 months
Help shape Tung Sing’s policies and practices. As a Resident Tester, you will review new policies and proposals that impact on residents, whilst working from home. Your ideas will be incorporated into policies whenever possible, and your comments will be fed back to the City Wide Focus Group
Information Editorial Group
2 hours meeting every 3 months
We send written information, such as letters and our newsletter, to our residents on a regular basis. You can help us by reviewing and giving feedback to ensure our information is helpful, interesting to read, and easy to understand. Additionally, you will meet quarterly with other residents to review the contents of our newsletter and to give your opinion on layout, if you are interested, to also write articles
Resident Inspection
As part of the resident inspection regime, we have opportunities for residents to become part of the resident inspection team that covers auditing, mystery shopping and resident inspection across the Arena Group. To read more information about Resident Inspection, please click here
Quality Auditor
1 hour every month
As a resident auditor, you will check the standards of service we provide. This may periodically checking communal cleaning standards; but may also include checking our void re-let standards are being met
Mystery Shopper
1 day training and time doing the “shopping”
After receiving training, you will undertake a series of ‘shops’ to test out whether the Group is meeting service standards, and then report back to the resident board to say how we did
Resident Inspector
3 days training and time spend on inspection
– possibly 5 to 10 days a year
You will inspect, review and make recommendations about the quality of one of our services, to help us to improve our services. This will include Mystery Shopping and checking our services against national standards, to ensure the quality is satisfactory. Training will be provided

Consultation and Surveys
15 minutes each time
Have your say on current services, issues, and proposed changes which may affect you. We will ask you some straight forward questions and you can tell us what you think - easy!
Opinion Poll via Texting
5 minutes each time
Quick and simple – we contact you directly to find your views and opinions on a particular service on your mobile phone
Suggestion Box
5 minutes each time
We have placed suggestion boxes in Tung Sing’s office, the majority of our housing schemes and Online. You can put your comments into these boxes, and we will collect them and review what you say on regular basis
Estate Walkabouts
2 hours walkabout every 6 months
Do you think you know your neighbourhood better than us? Why not join Tung Sing staff twice a year to walk around your local area, let us know your concerns and help us identify problems
Monitoring Groups
2 hours per session
Every now and again, we set up groups to help us review specific area of our services, e.g. repairs, service contracts, and Anti Social Behaviour. Why not join us? Your time commitment will depend on which service we are reviewing, and how we are tackling it. If you have particular issues you would like sorted out, this could be for you
Scheme and Residents’ Meetings
2 hours meeting every 3 months
Have your say, along with other residents, about the services we deliver in your local area. You may also choose to organise social and community events, and activities and training to improve community spirit and encourage get others involved
Best Value Group Member
12 hours per review
Sit with staff and external guests to review the services of Tung Sing and the rest of the Group. Reviews will look in depth at whether services makes best use of money and resources, and delivers what you want. Your input will help to make sure that our services run efficiently whilst meeting the needs of residents for the future
Arena Group-Wide Groups

There are a variety of groups which meet, with representatives from each subsidiary, across the Arena Housing Group. They discuss a whole range of different matters such as Anti Social Behaviour, maintenance, and the annual Residents’ Conference

Want to improve your skills and help us to help you? In partnership with voluntary organisations, we provide various training opportunities to our residents free of charge. Watch our newsletter for further details
Leisure Activities and Events

We help organise a variety of leisure activities and events to help residents get to know their neighbours better and help improve community spirit. We often use these days to find out about problems that you are experiencing in your area, and how you think we can improve our services to you

Time to spare? Why not help people whilst enjoying the activity or event – double the fun!
Gardening Club

Want to help improve the appearance of your neighbourhood by making over your garden, but don’t know where to start? We can support you, by putting you in touch with other green fingered residents, and providing you with leaflets to give you help and advice. And of course we always organise an annual gardening competition, where you can showcase your talents!
Conferences, Workshops, Seminars, Talks etc

Participate in activities organised by Tung Sing and our partners, where you can increase your knowledge and skills, whilst getting to know your neighbours better
5. Supporting Communities
Community Researcher/Interviewer

As a community researcher/ interviewer, you will be trained in how to conduct community research interviews. For each interview and questionnaire completed interviewers will receive a financial reward
