Tackling Anti-Social Behaviour and Harrassment: Arena has dedicated policies in place to deal with:

• Anti-social Behaviour
• Racial Harassment
• Harassment
• Domestic Violence

In the past six months Arena have launched a new specialist ASB team to tackle unreasonable behaviour quickly and effectively. During the first six months the team have worked closely with residents and other partners in the community to resolve over 20 cases of serious anti-social behaviour.

The team have used employed numerous tactics available to them to resolve these cases and have subsequently served perpetrators with prohibitive injunctions and have when required enforced breaches of these injunctions.

The Officers also regularly use Acceptable behaviour contracts Anti social behaviour orders and Demotion of tenancy orders to change perpetrators behaviour.

During these six months the team have also gained suspended possession orders from the courts, terminated starter(introductory tenancies) tenancies and have used the ultimate sanction Eviction on nuisance tenants or families on two occasions.

The team continue to act quickly and effectively on serious incidents of Anti social behaviour and at present are investigating over 30 cases of nuisance the majority of which will be resolved by enforcing one of the many legal tools available to them.

We keep all policies under review and are currently developing a Hate Crime Strategy to support the existing harassment policies in operation. We work closely with other partner organisations in implementing our policies, including:
