British Gas Energy Trust The British Gas Energy Trust Fund

The British Gas Energy Trust offers grants to clear domestic gas and electricity debts.  You can apply to the Trust if you are in need, hardship or other distress, particularly if you are unable to meet or pay charges for your supply of domestic energy services.

 

In exceptional circumstances grants can be awarded to clear other priority debts and purchase essential household items. These are known as Further Assistance Payments.

 

The Trust is able to help with the following Further Assistance Payments:

 

·          Water / Sewerage debts

·          Council Tax / Rent arrears

·          Bankruptcy deposits / Debt Relief Orders (DRO)

·          Telephone arrears

·          Funeral expenses

·          Boiler repairs / replacements

·          Essential household items e.g. washing machines, cookers etc.

 

 The Trust is unable to award the following:

 

·          Fines for criminal offences

·          Educational / Training Needs

·          Tax or National Insurance Debts

·          Medical equipment, aids and adaptations

·          Holidays

·          Overpayment of benefits

·          Business debts

·          Catalogues, credit cards or personal loans

United Utilities Trust Fund is an independent grant making trust established in early 2005

A registered charity; the Trust is helping people out of poverty and debt - thanks to generous donations by United Utilities Water Plc

The policy and grant making is overseen by independent Trustees who ensure that the money goes where it is most needed

The Trustees set the policy and control and monitor the Trusts activities. The Trustees have entered into an agreement for day to day management and administration with Auriga Services Ltd who use their extensive expertise to administer other Trusts and to keep costs down by sharing overheads.

People unable to meet the cost of water charges and who live in the United Utilities area can apply for help
