Arena Future Ltd joined Arena Housing Group on 31 July 2006. Formerly Future St Helens, the company was established in 1999, utilising Lottery and European funding. Its purpose was to provide employment and training opportunities for people previously excluded from the labour market by establishing a business which collected and recycled furniture in the St Helens area.
Despite some diversification into other areas of work Future St Helens was not a sustainable business without an element of grant aid and in 2006 elected to join the Arena Housing Group. Arena’s intention was to develop the Arena Future business as a vehicle through which it could utilise the training and employment opportunities generated by its activities to create training and job opportunities for residents in the areas where the Group works.
Arena Future has two main locations both based in St Helens; Bickerstaffe Street and Roundwood Drive. Work is also undertaken in North Liverpool with Arena Housing Group regeneration staff from Anfield Road in Liverpool.
The Bickerstaffe Street premises are leased from Arena Housing Group. Although in a secondary retail location the train and bus stations are located within the area providing a fair degree of footfall. The town centre is also within a short walking distance.
The workshop at Roundwood Drive is leased from St Helens Council and is located on an industrial estate which is a short drive to St Helens Town and also to the motorway network providing easy access to Merseyside, Warrington, Widnes and other major towns.
