Looking To The Future: 'Future' is a furniture recycling business in the centre of St Helens, set up to renovate old furniture, before selling it on to low-income families. At the same time it offers employment and training opportunities to unemployed people in the local community. 'Progress' is a similar scheme based in Warrington, which uses the same model as Future but focusing on white goods such as cookers, fridges and washing machines.

To help the young 'unemployed', the New Street Way in St Helens is a scheme to reward young people with credits they can spend on things like CD's, trips out and cinema tickets in return for work in the community.
